“The March wind sweeps and sings, I dream of familiar things; Old memories wake, Faint echoes make A murmur of past Springs” ~ Chambers (adapted) |

We had the pleasure of creating this wicked cool coffee table for a client's home in southern New Hampshire.
It was made to complement the trestle dining set we had created for them which featured
a wood X trestle base, matching benches and a pair of our modern dining chairs.
She wanted the coffee table to be completely unique from the dining set but still have a similar theme, such a fun design to create!

This base would look awesome with a glass top which would showcase the base even more!

Celebrating Spring!!!
Finding Enchantment
The warm air rides over the snowy landscape, melting begins and as it evaporates it turns into low lying fog, thick undulating waves dance across the lake, the large open expanse so beautifully ghostly white and gray, dissipating in the far forested shores, for a moment it brings me back to days long gone when my sisters and I would so eagerly await the arrival of Spring’s awakening and filled with the optimism that only youth can hold we would embrace the tiniest bit of warmth, leave the confines of home and answer the call of the forest and pond across the road from our home and it was there we lived out our best days and sweetest of girlhood friendships, once one has left that enchanted world the door shuts and it is only distant memories that flit in and out, wavering just out of reach, much like the dissipating fog blowing across the pond. So real yet so intangible and fleeting but for a moment I pretend I can open the doorway once again… I answer the call of the forest around me and as I walk I find beauty and a whole new solace wrapped loosely in memories of Springs long gone...
I find the first golden days of March’s sunshine to be the most glorious of all days and as it melts down around me so deliciously golden and just warm enough that I know I would never want to live anywhere else than New England.
I find I have frightened a small herd of deer, they turn, white tails waving, with silent leaps they retreat into the deeply wooded hillside. I watch them seeming to glide as if on wings and not feet at all. Their grace and beauty fill me with awe.
I find that the little chipmunks have emerged from their winter’s den, they are ever so darling. I meet one in my wanderings; with his little upright tail, he scampers fast into a hollow tree trunk beside the stonewall. I stop to watch him, in a half a minute he pops back out onto the wall to see if I am still around, he sees that I am and once again he is back in his shelter, we play this game several times and each time his shiny black eyes, quivery little nose and stripey coat are as adorable as the last. I am filled to bursting with cuteness and leave him in peace, my soul well satisfied.
I find a Bluebird to sing to me, his lovely song filters over the opening in the forest and I know why Thoreau so aptly penned “…His soft warble melts in the ear, as the snow is melting in the valley around. The bluebird comes and with his warble drills the ice and sets free the rivers and ponds and frozen ground. “
His song awakens Spring in my heart and all is well with my soul.
I find the first Mourning Cloak butterfly, she floats before me down the wooded path, so beautifully graceful. I love her delicate strength, so fragile yet she survives and thrives in the earliest of Spring days with freezing nights and snow that turns to rain. It almost seems impossible that she exists but the possible is always found in the wonders of Creation.
And I find a new kind of enchanted world set in the March forests, one that becomes more lovely with each passing year and that the mellow peacefulness of age far surpasses the exuberance of youth and all is well with my soul.
Happy Spring!
