Wild Asters.

Fox grapes, bitter with the indigo taste of Winter

already blooming inside them.”

We had the pleasure of working with our favorite designer,

Kristen Lande (@kristenlande.m2cdesign), to create this gorgeous solid Black Walnut oval

trestle table for her clients' newly redesigned builtin breakfast nook.

The table was an impressive 52" wide X 92" long.

As always, Kristen's styling is stunning!

Waiting...

The sun of September melts down around me, mellow and gentle, the most beautiful of all sunshine. The birds, not yet ready to leave for their wintering grounds, talk amongst themselves in soft, slow tones. The air is so still, peaceful and calm, it's as if the Earth has held her breath, waiting…With Summer being laid to rest and Autumn coming up the lane ~ neither one fully present yet not absent either ~ it must be the loveliest time of the year. It makes one wish it would forever stay in this captive moment, the magic hour of the year.

Over the past week, the ferns have faded from dark green to the palest of yellows; in the new day’s first gray light, they appear a ghostly white, their lovely pale fronds waving gently in the morning breeze. Soon enough, they shall turn a burnished golden brown, the skeletal remains of the once lush fronds of Spring and Summer, they shall lie dormant, awaiting the arrival of the next Vernal awakening.

The sun finally crests the hilltop, slanting down, flooding the field with a golden light against the dark shadows of the forest’s reflection. As the distant hills rise hazy, blue-gray, row upon row with the mist rising high from the river valley below, I start my morning walking in a living masterpiece.

The Burning Bush has started to turn, shockingly pink in an otherwise subdued landscape of greens, grays, and browns. Its foliage is as lovely as the tulips of spring or the roses of June. The words of Albert Camus float through my mind: 'autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower’ and I know that in just a few short weeks, the woodland will become the culmination of all the promises of spring and summer ~ the crowning, golden moment of the year.

High above me in the clear blue sky, the crows put on an aerial display, talking not in their usual raucous calls, but in softer and gentler voices one rarely hears. They dip and dive, twisting and almost touching, wing to wing. Then it's over. They fly to the west, leaving an emptiness in the vast heaven of blue. It’s a beautiful moment, and I have been blessed to be a part of it.

The morning dawns with rain, much needed after so many weeks without. It’s a gentle, steady rain and the trees create a canopy over the pathway and I hear the raindrops falling softly on the leaves above me, they catch the droplets and I stay relatively dry. A rainy morning in September also means the fog rolls in. It encapsulates me and I am in a world apart ~ a lovely, muted realm of softened sight and sound. Only what is close at hand can be seen or heard, the rest of the world seems far away in a muffled cloak of gray. Yet, in the understory of the forest, the Birch and Beech saplings create their own sunshine, their foliage already shining a gilded yellow. It’s a mysterious golden moment in the magic hour of the year.

Not once throughout its whole 30 days did September disappoint in her beauty and glory.

The golden days of September must surely be akin to Heaven.

Sunlit green meadow and forest overlook misty layered hills under a pale cloudy sky, serene morning landscape.

Wishing you a beautiful and blessed month of September

and

a glorious Autumn Season!
